Zee Haen: Fluyt; 100 tons; 1640 Zee Haen was one of two ships, the other being the 60 ton Heemskerck, taking part in Abel Tasman's exploration and discovery of Tasmania and New Zealand's South Island, and his charting of the northwest Australian coastline. The Dutch East-India company (VOC) ships left Batavia on the 14th of August 1642. After an eventful and productive voyage, Zee Haen returned to Batavia 6 months later. |
